each and every time
Lobby groups/mafias like the RIAA are one of the foremost reasons I would take up the arms of civil service and go into politics. I can’t say that I get furious thinking of the current imbalance of power that these groups have over congressional action, but it is fuel for the fire and, nevertheless, provides continual encourage to respond.

If that’s not the opposite of innovation, I don’t know what is. They don’t want to spend the time and money developing new and better products, but just gripe that they’re not getting what they’re “owed.” I guess it’s just part of the new whine-and-sue business model.

I was reading an article (sadly I forgot where) that was mentioning how one of the major probable causes behind the sudden push for radio performance rights is that a lot of foreign countries (western Europe in particular) have laws requiring radio performance royalties if the country in which the content was created has such laws.
If this goes through, not only would the RIAA start raking in money from US radio stations, but from radio broadcasters all over the world. I’m starting to get tired of this “we’re not profitable so let’s legislate/litigate our way to profitability” stick. Way to pervert the justice system to suit your bottom line, guys.

It’s so much fun to watch an industry kill itself. Artists need to start going the MC Lars route or die with the industry.

That’s the big reason that I refuse to join AARP (yes I am old enough), even though they constantly send me tons of garbage in the mail. Why would I want to send my money to someone who is going to send people to congress to make sure that I have to pay more taxes?

Not long ago the NMPA and MPA also sued sites that print (user sumbitted, and much of the time incorrect) guitar tablature online, the main one I guess being OLGA (http://olga.net/)

Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’. ”
You’ll probably get sued for this…
