brief

I am alright. I was a few steps away from Norris Hall when that round occurred. Police kept us there for a very long time, although I did what I could to get updates from them because they took over my class to use the room as a headquarters.

I really need to find out who is not alright.

Thank you for checking in. I appreciate that.

brief update: I lost a friend in the West AJ shootings, a real friend. Still no word about Norris. The grieving in Cassell tomorrow will be tangible.

I can’t describe the feeling when I heard the majority of the rampage occured in German class just a moment ago. You had expressed you were taking German a while back.

Letting everyone know you’re OK is by far the best post you’ve ever had on your blog. I’m so glad you’re alright.

Been watching FoxNews since noon. Especially after hearing this was an Engineering building. Was glad to find out you were OK. After finding out that Kellan was still in the hospital, and knowing that she had nothing to do all day but watch the news, was sure this was tough on her as well. Spoke with your mom tonight, she seems to be alright. I’m sure you had other friends involved. Will be praying for your emotional recovery.

ryan - my name is wanda harne, i’m glyn harne’s wife. glyn is the son of george (deceased) and bernice harne, bernice is ruth harne’s sister and george and lee harne were brothers - lots of double first cousins. after the sad sad story today, we wondered if you may be attending the university and went to your web site to see. there you were. glyn’s son’s, (my step-son’s) name is also ryan harne - we have often visited your web site. in the beginning, never really knew you were family until january 2007, when glyn and his mother went to see family in maryland. donny harne said you were definitely family. our prayers are with you, your friends and the victim’s families. we are here if you should need to ever get away. we live in pensacola, florida and would certainly welcome you.
    take care

Ryan, I can’t imagine what you’re going through right now, but I’m glad to know you’re okay, and I thought you might like to read this. I read it for the first time a long time ago, but it kind of stuck with me:

The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater. - J.R.R. Tolkien
