		<description>I was in NYC last year for the Academy Awards and the few of us there all seemed to catch the same wind of incredulity when "...Pimp" was announced to win Best Song. If I remember correctly, that song actually was allowed a live performance, too; t'was the icing on the cake.</description>

		<description>Yeah, in my book, the Oscars have a long history of snubbing efforts of worthier distinction.  Orindary People over Raging Bull, Shakespeare in Love over Saving Private Ryan, Crash over Brokeback Mountain.  I could go on and on.

The biggest shocker for me was Best Song in which a musical with three Best Song nominations got shot out entirely.  I don't know why this surprised me so much, particularly since "It's hard out here for a Pimp" won last year.

Given their embarassing track record, I'm convinced more than ever that the Academy should strongly consider dropping that category all together.  :-)</description>
