statutory stasis
I am taking full advantage of this brief time off from the madness of an academic semester. My body revels in the relaxation, exercises and discovers a pleasant exhaustion, realizes how holiday desserts are full-bodied and sating.
Returning from my second cycling shift of the day, two heron-like birds took off in front of me, revealing a vast wingspan and unspeakable endurance. Constantly being on the move is taxing, but a purpose for the motion allows for a fulfillment rather than fatigue.
Tomorrow, I return to Blacksburg for a brief span of “break duty”, the RA job that could just as easily be termed “the catch”. I shall complete that graduate school application which has thus far been the unattended task during this sabbatical.
