one more thing
It, that freakish ardor I keep locked inside, is beginning to surface as the MacWorld 2006 Keynote nears. I’m doing what I can to finish up The Cult of Mac, and, to give it a fair deal, it has become less frustrating to read in my last few sits. Perhaps, there was just a slow portion the author forgot to have checked out before print, maybe something like chapters 3 through 14. But all is forgiven.
The advent of the Keynote has increased my sometimes-surfacing geek traits, noticed by an audible chuckle at Joy of Tech’s comic today. But it’s only funny because it is soo true. However, even though MacWorld Expo is equivalent to a religious pilgrimage and the Keynote a technological sacrament, I’m doing my best to distance myself from it.
Last fall’s announcement of the iPod nano and new iPod with video playback would normally have made me run screaming in a glorious stupor around campus, since the announcements were so proxemic. Yet, I restrained that fervor, possibly because I was so overwhelmed with activities and assignments to think twice about the releases, and moved on in life. So, with my current condition of being on winter holiday and a wide-open internet connection to refresh Keynote info streams by-the-minute, I’ve decided to get out during the Keynote. It’s a positive step to create some distance between a long-time Apple follower and his beloved; and there’s nothing wrong with fresh air to cultivate some inner clarity, so to speak.
Thus, once my PowerBook arrives back to me tomorrow morning, as the tracking information would suggest, I will head out for some coffee, a bagel, and a new book to fill the not-so void of Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance. But, to be sure, it will be tough to follow up such a brilliant book like Zen (for those of you who haven’t crossed paths with it yet).
The only bridge to cross between now and Keynote would be a good night’s rest. When something garner’s anticipation in my gut, I tend to become anxious and antsy. So, if the clouds roll briskly under the moon tonight, be aware that it’s not a violent front, but rather some deep breathing exercises aimed at putting myself to sleep.
