angels wear red ribbons

Now that finals are here - finals are here, finals are here, today - I am becoming that less-social being that I try to avoid during the other periods of the term. With classes having considerably less work to turn in this week prior to exams beginning, I am spending a lot of time off or around campus studying or reading. I am really turning pages through Steinbeck’s East of Eden while also being able to review my course material - the latter being only a vague review now, much more intensity will follow as of this weekend.

On my walk to Bollo’s tonight for some coffee-to-go, I was greeted with a walking partner. She was leaving the Squires parking lot and happened to get to the sidewalk, somewhat narrow, at the very instant I was walking by. She laughed and I asked what for. We then discussed the coincidence of our simultaneous intersection and subsequent mutual journey to Draper Road. For walking together for perhaps only 40 seconds, we seemed to really dive into discussion about the common uncomfortable reactions people have when they are thrust into incredible nearness to other people when there is other room available. Notice, how people always leave spaces, if possible, between them and the next person when they choose a seat in a classroom. But neither of us two though it uncomfortable to suddenly be by each other and we certainly weren’t unwilling to communicate our thoughts.

The little things that happen around finals-time are some of the most memorable experiences of my life. And is it any surprise that I have very few friends who are also in engineering? Most of them are in some kind of creativity-inspired field. Isn’t it true that alike personalities are attracted? I’m just sayin’.

Perhaps alike personalities are attracted, but I know that musicians surely drive me batty.

Yes. Like personalities do tend to attract one another. That said, there’s even more to be said for a variety.

How many other theatre crazies do you see me fraternizing with on a regular basis?

I have to go now. My english muffins currently need toasting. Then (naturally) they’ll require peanut butter-ing. You know, the kind with the honey. Already. Blended. In.
