staedtler for the pros

You know. You know.. it’s kind of frustrating when you spend 50 minutes on a homework problem and then turn to the back of the book for the answer and then see that, while your answers are still in the same order of magnitude as the book’s answers, you are way off. There is this flash of hope as you turn to the appendix of answers because you look at your results and say “hey, i don’t see why not” and then you’re caught in a road-rage knifing attack upon getting a face full of reality.

At least you have a book that has answers in it: in my line of study, there aren’t any, and when your solutions are attacked, the wounds seem to cut straight to the heart.

Awww, it’s finally the time of year for you to be sporting those lovely scarves.

I am a third PETE engr student. When you do engineering or any science related subject, this experience is common. All I can tell you is while doing my fluid mech book, I think I might have cursed the author, then the prof, then the pub. company when I got my question wrong after almost an hour of painful unit conversions and round about concept conclusions which you prof says was supposed to be easy.

More annoying is Num. Methods, where one minus sign can set 30 iterations of mark. My prof who is tech phobie makes us do them manually. After a whole day of iterations, one misplaced minus sign is the last thing you want affecting the result.

So my advice to a fellow engineering student…LIVE WITH IT

Ri - :) The scarves are in full swing. I am looking for a softer fabric one to wear, because all of mine are made from wool and are only so comfortable for long periods of time. I’m currently in the stage where my throat itches occasionally from being rubbed, but that will pass.

McZee - I am totally living with it. My vent wasn’t in the form of a complaint but rather in the form of an exasperated sigh. There are times, however, where the assignments are just fully frustrating and I need to scream at something. That’s usually when I take a walk around campus or go visit Erin in her studio and just watch her work. What is PETE, by the way? I’ve not heard of that type before.

PETE-petroleum engineering. I study that at Texas A&M
