I just spent the last twenty minutes talking to a very kind East Asian-area individual who helped me go from NO DSL to LOTS O’ DSL. A thunderstorm rumbled through our area on Tuesday and I’ve been without email, website correspondence, and general sanity since.
But I will never forget my Asian-area friend who congenially asked, “How old you are?” and was patient with me and always “Thank[ed] you[me] for that” after nearly everything task I complied to.
I, along with the 5,006 other households who lost DSL service, are grateful to the help of Verizon in repairing a “severed fiber channel distribution point” caused by lightning and water and wind. Despite the past protests of Jeremiah, Verizon has served us well.

Well, take what you can get. It’s still far more expensive and not as fast and it must be bundled with POTS.

Wow. You’re the only other person in the world, apart from me and Clark Howard, who use the term “POTS”. At least, I’ve never heard anyone else actually use the term while in my presence.
By the way, I noticed our DSL is about half the speed of what it was originally. Used to have downstreams of 1.5MBps, now running around 280KBps. Ok, maybe that’s less than half. I will be making a call soon.

I work for Verizon Online DSL Tech Support. Most of us do a good job taking care of customer issues, however, lookout for the new guys. That’s all I’m saying. And Ryan should call us immediately, that’s what we’re here for…
