linkity split

It is not in my nature to post brief entries solely based on links. However, I read FluxBlog today with his featured guest. The entry is about Yoko Kanno and Seatbelts. But the comic must be read to understand.

Derek was the one who introduced me to the Cowboy Bebop soundtracks. From the first few seconds of “Tank!” I was hooked. Hooked like that captain from that ship in Peter Pan. Yoko Kanno IS genius. No other person writes so many genres of music with such bravado and splendor and refinement. Check out those free downloads on the FluxBlog page and you’ll witness just the tip-o’-the-iceberg that is Yoko Kanno.

Thanks to FluxBlog and his guest, M.E. Russell. And thanks to Derek for my acquainting me with the sounds.

    i’m not gonna lie..

your ‘wicked burns’ are kind of creeping me out.
    :-/

Creeping you out?! That’s a bit on the harsh side, but acceptable criticism nonetheless. I will take it into account along with the other, recent death threats.

ACK. That’s what I get for getting all busy playing carpenter for the VT Theatre Department, and not checking your site for a while. You mention both me AND the most amazing female composer to-date . . . .

Her soundtrack to the Anime The Vision of Escaflowne is equally impressive, albeit limited to the classical and J-Pop varieties. Still very much worth the time. Oh, and my favorite thing to remind people about her scores is the fact that they are from cartoon TV shows.

    Cartoon. Television. Series.
And better than most A-movie soundtracks.
    Amazing.

    In summary: Kanno! GENIUS!
