it’s always a rapid pace
Friday was great. The weather held off its onslaught of precipitation so that our visitor could enjoy a day of Blacksburg’s finest.
Abigail and I entertained the lovable Courtney on her day trip to VA Tech. It was very warming to have a friend visit us on her free time, so we appreciated her every moment here.
I met up with them after my Physics class for lunch at West End. Abigail had already begun the basic tour of the expansive campus. Following food, I showed Courtney the free Adult Swim garb I gathered at Soundfest. She enjoyed the fact that a MeatWad air freshener even exists
Then we all walked through downtown Blacksburg and ogled at the rare artifacts of Xanadu, or stuff. The trip downtown was rather quick. Although, Courtney and I did pick up the last two remaining winning Pepsi/iTunes bottles at Crossroads music. Yes.
There was still much time left to be consumed! So we went to the Math Emporium. Well, we at least showed her what it looks like. And then left as quickly as we could (need I remind you of the guards?) We then cruised through magazine racks and a bookstore looking for interesting whatnots.
Then back to campus for dinner. Well back to campus to go to dinner. And then we went to dinner. Gillie’s was our choice. Our food was served rather speedily and we ate (when in Vega, eat as the Vegans do). Uhuh. We walked off dinner by rounding the block and returning basically to our starting position for a movie at the Lyric theater.
The Barbarian Invasions was playing. A French/Canadian film winner of many prominent film festivals, including Cannes. The dialogue was 90% French so the subtitles were a must. Somehow subtitles make a movie better. If only all American films were dubbed…like…dubbed into French…and then subtitles in English. I guess that would be cool…
Anyways, the movie was great. Very solemn and provoking. The directorial aspects that clearly come into play, cinematography, shot angles, and such were all very simple. However, the ease at which such facets were approached allowed a deep plot to flow more fluently without viewer cognitive distortion. Or stuff. Anyways. Good film. Sad, but good.
Then we grabbed some lite dessert and coffee at Bollo’s and said our farewells. I had a great time. And thank you to Courtney for taking her day to visit us.
Today has thus far been spent at Starbucks and my room practicing for tomorrow.
The Pepsi/iTunes giveaway is now over. finis! In total, I amassed 21 free songs. Come on and Celebrate! My final free download was “Smells Like Teen Spirit” by Nirvana, as recommended by another great, Sting.
Much to do this week. Exams are ever close. I’ll need to stock up on Go Lean Crunch. And Wheat Thins…definitely Wheat Thins.
