ladies and gentlemen

There’s far too much to try and cram into a single blog regarding my trip and absence these past three [two] days. So I will start with Wednesday first and see what happens from there.

Wednesday, 31 December 03 - I leave bright and 7:30early from Lburg heading east on 460 for VABeach. I keep myself enough entertained along the way with my iPod and strange road signs. My favorite was actually two signs that appeared consecutively. The first one was ‘Trucks Entering Highway’ and about 75 feet after that was ‘Log Trucks Entering Highway’. It reminded me of ‘Bond…James Bond’, so I couldn’t tell if the state (aka VDOT peeps) was trying to be more specific through repetition or attempting a slight gagged twist on a classic one-liner. So, thus, I kept myself vaguely elated. I stopped in Petersburg for rest. Ended up arriving at my destination 4.5 hours after beginning. Much faster than I had expected.

It was so good/great/grood to see Abigail. Soon after I was introduced to the most vivacious family. After some quick relaxation, Abigail and I went to the Contemporary Arts Center for some modern cultural experience. It’s so hard for me to go places like that because it simply makes me want to never go back to Lynchburg again. Lynchburg is grievous and quelling; big cities are diverse and vigorous. Post-art, we Starbucks-ed for quite some time before returning to headquarters. Dinner at Machismo’s Burrito Bar and then swing, Swing, SWING!

The aforementioned was the name of the event we (family and I) attended for New Year’s Eve. The Virginia Symphony Orchestra performed dozens of ‘our favorite’ swing and jazz tunes. Despite an intensely annoying cruise-liner, first trumpet emcee the evening was spectacular and engaging. Much enjoyed.

Then we all rushed back to watch the NYball drop and eat horribly calorific foods.

Wednesday was one amazing day.

Then on Thursday… ::to be continued::
