laughable

I attended my extra credit event thing last night. A few extra points in COMM1014 won’t hurt. Although I had to endure a Democratic candidate presidential debate…Democratic presidential candidate debate…whatever. It was part of Rock the Vote that hopes the candidates will voice their opinion on issues relating to people in the ages of 18-30 (apparently the youthful voters of America, yet those numbers seem too broad to cover just youth). Anyways, it was a long evening of 9 Dems griping about what Pres. Bush has done wrong. Let me comment in my most incoherent way.

Admittedly, in the task of running for president, any candidate will, often, blame random things on the incumbent to fairly libel the figure up in hopes of hurting the incumbent’s reputation. This is true regardless of party affiliation. But Dems have that ignorance about them to not realize that their views just aren’t reasonable in action. For example, let me once again say that the Democratic party wants America to become like Europe: non-aggressive, Socialist, and dependent on government. And once again let me point out that European socialist countries have the highest unemployment rates in all of the governments currently in existence. Throughout the night these candidates opposed the Bush tax cuts (they’d rather repeal them…wait…doesn’t that mean taxing us more?!) and declared the war in Iraq another Vietnam (hmm…I thought we lost in Vietnam?). These foolish people got their approval from the youthful audience through cheap laughs and clever appeals (’I think marijuana should be decriminalized’ - Kucinich). Too bad 3 out of the 9 admitted they had used marijuana in the past and one other candidate [she] wouldn’t answer the question.

I’m glad I went though. I definitely appreciated the aid in my Comm scores but the time spent watching this latest sitcom really bolded, underlined, and italicized my feelings about the Democratic party. Anyways, it was interesting. I continually lose respect for that party. But the Birthday party…now that’s something I can enjoy.
