Let’s see. Here are some random comments I wanted to mention. First: away messages. Ok, people, whenever you use an away message please make it original; default is not cool. And don’t make just one or two original away messages and then use them for all-around use, that’s not nice. Away messages leave a reminder that you too are cunning and clever in this world, use them very wisely. Also, as a part of my plan to undermine the American automotive industry, I’ve noticed that Ford owners, and very specifically Ford owners in particular, don’t use their turn signals as often as other model owners. It is even more prevalent among Ford truck and SUV owners ::ultimate gag::. It’s a dangerous thing to not use turn signals due to the already given confusion in modern driving, so make life better and safer for us all and first use your turn signals and secondly buy German.
Last Friday night and early early early Saturday morning was Relay For Life. I had a great time. I got to talk to some people I hadn’t previously known very well, so that was some good times. I also had my first true game of ultimate frisbee; incredibly fun. The best part of the entire thing was that the football field was pure mud, so we all had our marks leaving the area. I also took some kick-boxing lessons that night and participated in the greatest boxcar relay race of all time (although they weren’t boxcars but just large entities that people created to hold while they raced). I was in the dragon that fell apart not only during the race but also on the way to the starting line. A great evening.
I ended up having to stop my high-importance homework assignment early Saturday night to go see Gangs Of New York with Jessalyn and Erica. The movie has its ups and downs. I do understand why Daniel Day Lewis was nominated for an Academy for his acting as the bad guy because he was sincerely astounding. But the movie isn’t that great. Some strange twists at the end, odd sequences of events. Overall I suppose it’s worth seeing. This is one movie where I simply wasn’t impressed with DiCaprio, unlike his amazing performance in Catch Me If You Can. Gangs Of New York gets a 5.1 out of 10. Oh yeah, this movie is defintely anti-war but more so in the form of anti-needless-violence, which is simple termed anti-war by most modernity. Anyways, it has some overall liberal views on social reform etc etc.
Then Sunday morning was Baccalaureate. It went great. The performances were very very good. My voice didn’t quite hold well, especially at minimal volumes, but I still received many compliments surprisingly enough. Oh well. I thought the service went great; the power point presentation very wonderful and memory-ful. Then Sunday night was the Senior Night dinner at Billy Joe’s. Some good food, although not impressive. The class officers announced the superlatives. I’m glad Karl and Emilia got cutest couple, somehow I thought I’d mention that. I got “Best, Worst, and Only Chain Jumper” alluding to my sophomore attempt at hurdling over a chain and having it not work, that equalled a long painful hospital stay. Some notable superlatives were: “Cleanest Carpet” for Michael Kurbejweit, great story behind that one; “Most Likely to get Caught” for Todd Ramsey (Hot Rodd Tamsey), another hilarious story behind that one; and “Best Last Name” for Chris Cocke. Then Savory and NAV played and that was great. I left before the karaoke though because I had major work to do on my CollEng project for Monday.
Thus I did the project this morning, the very first one, and got that over with. So now I have nothing left to do in that evil class. Ben and Rossman’s project was hilarious. Congrats to those two on some fine acting and screenwriting. I await with eagerness to see the Karl, Grachman, Hot Rodd, and Johnson skit. Looks to be good.
Oooh ooh. JF has yet another scandal!!! Do tell. Well ::in my most gossip-y tone of voice:: the certain individual who wrote a poem for Baccalaureate is actually found out to not have written it at all. A senior attending the service heard the poem and recognized it as one of her favorite poems of all time, so she looked it up on the internet to see if it had been plagiarized and… In fact, JF has another kid on the run. The original poem is entitled, “After A While” by Veronica A. Shoffstall; the stolen version simply has “As a graduating senior” tacked on to the beginning of each line. Shame Shame.
