memoirs

While I’ve spent the last days of work trudging away at doc after doc, the weather has started to clear up, at least for a time. Our annual precipitation thus far is only an inch away from Virginia’s record annual rain/all-types-of-precip fall (in ‘88 I think), and we still have 6 more months in the year. Hopefully, this weekend will be sunny like the forecasters have foretold.

I listened to the interview with Brad from Mercy Me on WJJS this morning. It was interesting to see how much this blatantly Christian song has been affecting people even without such beliefs. David Lee, of the morning show at JJS, continually mentioned to Brad how much this song has affected his life and his outlook thus. I remember hearing the song a while ago…easily more than a year ago, and can remember how I thought, musically, the song wasn’t very good (and I still will maintain that soapbox to a degree, or perhaps it was more of the production standpoint). Yet, the lyrics intrigued me then and they still have me in their clutches since. It’s definitely one of my brighten-up songs.

I’ve been listened to so much talk radio lately (WLNI) and have enjoyed much from Clark Howard and Sean Hannity. On Clark’s show today he mentioned the new study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and their latest study revealing critical crash test results from SUVs. In side-impact tests, 9 out of their 11 SUVs completely failed. The pictures are awful, some have cavernous holes that destroy from driver to front passenger. Sickening. I can possibly fathom ever changing my views on SUVs; their low mileage is enough for me to never put my foot on a Blazer’s gas pedal, and now with this study…wow…just be careful if you’re light-hearted enough to purchase one. I’ll stick to my ‘03 TDI and my ‘00 M Roadster anyday (which I will purchase…soon…hopefully…assuming money starts falling from the sky).

Not much else to mention lately, just plenty of thinking and contemplating during my 8hr daily stay at work. I’m hoping I can get a vacation soon, not specifically from work but just in general to get out of town. Yeeaaah..vacation.
